As mentioned on the Sunsets page, I made a minor habit of taking photos of dramatic skies in the various places I find myself. The rich, saturated colors, cloud patterns and contrasts between light and dark often make for excellent watching. I try to capture some of that impression in images.

This sunrise photo was taken on November 17, 2002 at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. We were there to watch the famous dawn take-off of the Snow Geese. A bunch of them are in the air here, against the red, pre-dawn clouds.

Here is a final sunrise photo from November 17, 2002. The sun is just about ready to pop over the moutains, and more Snow Geese are doing a fly-by. American Coots and Northern Shovelers look for some breakfast in the foreground.
